YouTube and Macromedia Flash Player

I recently did some uninstalling on my laptop to try to get rid of all the software that runs in the background bogging my machine down.  However, when I went to YouTube, I found that I could no longer view the videos.  I got the message:

“Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia’s Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player.”

I clicked and was able to see the flash graphic indicating that the installation was successful.  I also made sure that I had JavaScript turned on.  However, it still didn’t work.

This is the second time I have had to resolve this issue, and of course I had to poke around on the web to find the solution.  So this time, I am storing the solution in my Online Cortex:

To fix the problem, you must actually install the full Macromedia Flash Player - not just the plugin.  You can download it from here: http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/flash.html

It works for me.

    Hi Kevin:
    thanks a lot.
It worked fine for me too!
I was blaming my 80 years of age for not being able to come up with a solution.

    Hi Kevin:
I got your message but it is I who has to thank you and not vice-versa.In view of your cybernetics bloodhound qualities I venture to spur you with another problem I have that nobody could solve:
I got a new Monitor (E-Machine 19″ Plasma E-19T5 W)( as a matter of facts, I had it together with a more powerful PC, ,in occasion of my 80 years but it was also the cause for the YouTube Problem with all the works I had to do to install the new equipment): now all my images are wider and in no way I can find the correct way to fix this problem although I followed all the prompts suggested. My opinion is that the relation between height and width of the new monitor is not the same as they were with the former standard 17″ monitor. I don’t dare to go through the registry as E-Machines proposed.
I hope you can come up with a solution.
    Excuse my daring frankness.
    Regards and… arrivederci.
    Enrico
