With Global Warming and the burning of fossil fuels becoming real problems, new solar power technologies are being developed. NOVA has a nice piece on some of these new technologies that range from flexible solar panels, which are available today to nano-solar paint, which is currently under development.
The nano-solar paint that NOVA discusses is different than the nano-solar cells that are under development at the University of Notre Dame, which rely on carbon nanotubes.

A group in Toronto is also in the hunt. They are pointing at infared.
It’s imperative that this technology be refined and put into practice asap. We have to replace our daytime source of electrical generation and then go on to hydrogen, from hydrolysis, to complete the energy replacement cycle.
