Sorry, I posted a bit early. I found the firmware & programming language, as ways as the building and sensors used. However, the most important piece of information (at least to me anyway) is not found. that is : What is it supposed to simulate? What is the simulation for? I noticed that it has bumper, and ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles.

About article : Knuth: Developing Robotic Scientists for Space Exploration http://www.albany.edu/news/update_4522.shtml

I would very much like to how he uses it as a prototype, such as:

- what is it supposed to do
- what software platform he uses including firmware and programming language
- any special structural mechanic or sensors to this prototype?

I'd like to explore this prototype in our lesson to our students. Help is greatly appreciated!
